Marlborough, MA (April 1, 2009)—Lunarpanels LLC today announced its receipt of a $1.4 billion investment as a component of President Obama’s New Energy for America plan. The historic investment is the United States government’s first in lunar photovoltaics.

In a statement issued by United States Energy Secretary Steven Chu on Wednesday, “We’re looking at broadest possible spectrum of potential alternative energy investments. There’s no way to explain this massive expenditure of taxpayer money except to say that these are the first photovoltaics we’ve seen built to harness the [relatively] weak light from Earth’s fickle satellite.”

Explaining that President Obama was “pretty clear” about wanting broad, strategic investment across the entire alternative energy sector, he added, “This should keep him quiet for awhile.”

Lunarpanels CEO Mark Habke also announced plans to ramp up production at their Massachusetts manufacturing facility in anticipation of increased demand.
